GDC congratulates Nakuru on the step to city status

GDC has joined other leaders in congratulating H.E. Hon. Lee Kinyanjui, the Governor, Nakuru County on the Senate’s adoption of a report to elevate Nakuru Town into a city status.

GDC Managing Director and CEO, Eng. Jared Othieno described the adoption of the Senate report as “a terrific milestone” for Nakuru County. Yesterday the Senate adopted a report by the Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations Committee that proposed Nakuru Municipality to be upgraded into a city status.

“By every measure, Nakuru is unique. GDC and geothermal energy will continue to contribute to the spectacular contours of the city’s architecture and by extension the uniqueness of Nakuru City,” Eng. Othieno noted in a statement. He said that the growth of Nakuru means the growth of GDC by extension.

Nakuru has been the home to GDC since 2009. Recently, GDC forged an MOU with the County Government of Nakuru to jointly pursue the development of geothermal energy especially in the areas of direct uses.
