GDC has kicked off the 2026 Customer Service Week with MD & CEO Mr. Stephen Busieney calling on staff to embrace the spirit of going the extra mile in serving customers, stakeholders, partners and communities.
In a message read on his behalf by General Manager, Corporate Services Mrs. Irene Onyambu, the MD & CEO noted that customer service was central to how GDC does business and that every employee has a role in shaping the customer experience.

“At GDC, customer service is at the heart of how we do business. Every colleague contributes to the experience of our customers, stakeholders, partners, and communities,” he said.
The week, themed “Going the Extra Mile,” challenges staff to move beyond meeting expectations and make a difference through every interaction.
“Do we go the extra mile, especially when there is no reward for it?” posed Mr. Busieney, urging staff to do their best even when no one is watching.

Corporate Communication Manager Ms. Pauline Sheghu urged staff to make excellent customer service part of their everyday work and take ownership of the GDC brand.
“Excellent customer service is not simply about doing what is required, but about making an intentional effort to create better experiences for customers,” she said.

Deputy Manager, Corporate Communication Eric Wamanji challenged staff to embrace a culture of appreciation and serve with a smile, while Manager, Project Management Michael Simiyu called for teamwork and continued support as GDC pursues its strategic goals.
Staff ushered in the week-long celebration with a cake-cutting ceremony.
