Approval of USD 29.5 million Senior Loan and a Clean Technology Fund ( CTF) Concessional loan of USD 20 million for Quantum Power – Menengai Geothermal Project

The GDC Menengai project in Nakuru County is gathering steam following communication from The National Treasury. The African Development Bank Group (AFDB) has approved a Senior Loan of USD 29.5 million and a Clean Technology Fund (CTF) Concessional loan of USD 20 million for Quantum Power – Menengai Geothermal Project.

The Quantum Power – Menengai Geothermal Project is a 35 MW Project which is part of the three 35MW plants awarded on Build – Own -Operate Concessions by the Government.

Quantum Power-Menengai Geothermal Project, is the second geothermal independent power project in Kenya. The project is envisaged to substantially lower the cost of electricity and support the Government’s industrialization objective under the Big Four Agenda.
