The magnetotelluric (MT) method is a geophysical technique that is employed to deduce the electrical conductivity of the Earth’s sub-surface. The MT technique is capable of detecting the electrical resistivity characteristics of the key elements of the geothermal system, such as the heat source, cap rock layer, and structures that facilitate fluid flow. By combining the MT model with surface geology and geochemistry, a conceptual model of the geothermal system is constructed.
