Phonolite

Phonolite is a fine grained, porphyritic extrusive volcanic rock that is mainly composed of feldspathoids (nepheline) and alkali feldspars.

It is the dominant lava flow in Suswa covering half of the outer caldera floor and overflowing to the south flanks of Suswa volcano. It also covers the entire inner caldera floor (Island block) and annular trench.
