Geothermal Development Company (GDC) is gearing up to participate in this year’s ARGeo-C8 Virtual Conference slated for 2nd-6th November 2020. GDC is one of the partners of the conference.
Kenya is hosting the conference for the second time, after playing host in 2012, with the previous hosts being Ethiopia (2006), Uganda (2008), Djibouti (2010), Tanzania (2014), Ethiopia (2016) and Rwanda (2018).
The conference aims to promote regional cooperation, create an information exchange platform on the exploration, development, investment, and utilization of the geothermal resources in the region.
The forum will bring together the entire geothermal community both regionally and globally in what will be the largest virtual African geothermal conference ever. It will feature renowned speakers from academia, the business sector as well as governments and non-governmental organizations.
The conference will incorporate three (3) key areas: short courses running between 2-3 November 2020, the Kenya Investment Forum on the 3rd of November as well as the Main Conference that will run between 4-6 November 2020. The theme of ARGeo-C8 Virtual conference is: “Seizing the Moment: Investing in Geothermal Resources for Sustainable Development”.
A total of twelve (12) GDC staff will present papers during the conference while eight (8) staff will attend the virtual short courses.
GDC will be exhibiting at the ARGeo-C8 Virtual Exhibition. Online audiences will have the opportunity to view GDC profile via an online platform. The virtual exhibition will be a base of operations, enabling a meeting and marketing space.
