Mast

A mast is a rectangular or trapezoidal steel-structured tower, with one or more sections assembled in a horizontal position and then raised to the vertical position for operation. A mast is mainly found in land-rigs and is strong enough to support drilling equipment as well as lift the drill string in and out of the wellbore.
