Mr. Paul Ngugi

Mr. Paul Ngugi is the Managing Director & CEO of the Geothermal Development Company. Mr. Paul Ngugi has a wealth of experience in geothermal energy spanning 25 years. He is a long-serving Drilling Engineer who worked as the Head of Geothermal Planning at KenGen, Olkaria, before moving to GDC in 2009, where he served as the General Manager, Business Development – in charge of corporate strategy, planning, and fundraising. He would later become the General Manager, Drilling and Infrastructure, also doubling up as the General Manager, Strategy, Research, and Innovation. Mr. Ngugi holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nairobi and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the same institution. He has undertaken numerous trainings on geothermal technology in Iceland, as well as leadership courses. He is a leader in the geothermal sector – serving currently as the Chairman of the Geothermal Association of Kenya (GAK).
Mr. Cornel Ofwona

Mr. Cornel Ofwona has over 20 years’ experience in the geothermal industry. He has vast expertise in geothermal reservoir engineering, analysis and modeling.
Mrs. Irene Onyambu

Mrs. Irene Onyambu has over 20 years’ experience in Administration and Human Resource Management. Prior to her appointment, she was the Regional Manager for GDC’s South Rift Region. She is a member of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM).
Mr. Stephen Busieney
General Manager, Finance & Investment
Mr. Stephen Busieney has over 15 years’ experience in Finance and Accounting. Prior to joining GDC, he was the Chief Financial Officer for CIMERWA Cement Company Limited, Rwanda.

Eng. Reuben Ngosi, PE MIEK, is a distinguished mechanical engineer, a seasoned project manager, and a renowned Geothermal Expert with 18 years of extensive experience in both the private and public sectors. His expertise spans 14 years in developing and managing geothermal energy projects in Kenya, positioning him as a key figure in the industry.
Reuben holds an MSc in Project Management and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), and Certificate of Leadership Development from Harvard Business School. His deep knowledge encompasses drilling technology and management, geothermal energy project development, power plant design, procurement, hybrid project financing, and performance management.
Additionally, Reuben is a Certified Application Associate in Enterprise Asset Management SAP ERP, having been trained at SAP Academy in South Africa. At the Geothermal Development Company (GDC), he has held key roles including Manager of Drilling Operations, Manager of Drilling Equipment Maintenance, and Manager of Drilling Planning and Logistics. Before his tenure at GDC, he gained valuable experience working with KenGen and other private entities.

Ms. Agnes Muthengi is an Advocate of the High Court with over 17 years’ experience in the energy sector, primarily in the geothermal industry. Prior to her appointment she was GDC’s Manager, Board Secretarial Services and Insurance.
Mr. John Lagat
Manager, North Rift Region
Mr. John Lagat is the Regional Manager, North Rift. He is also in-charge of Geothermal Resource Assessment (GRA). He is a seasoned geologist with extensive knowledge in Geothermal Energy Technology spanning over 23 years. He is a member Geological Society of Kenya and Geothermal Association of Kenya.
Mr. Godfrey Shitsama

Mr. Godfrey Shitsama has over 20 years’ experience in the energy sector. He holds an MBA (Global Executive) From USIU Africa University/ Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. He is a member of Institute of certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), Institute of Internal Auditors of Kenya (IIA) and the Geothermal Association of Kenya (GAK).
