The well was drilled to a depth of 2,935 meters. PW-03 is part of the three (3) exploration wells in the Paka geothermal prospect, a prospect within the Baringo &ndash; Silali Geothermal Project. The successful discharge of PW-03 concludes the <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Drilling&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;Drilling is the process of making a hole from the ground surface through a predetermined trajectory to a predetermined depth where a desired resource is found. The desired resource can either be oil, gas or steam.&amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;Drilling can be done for the purposes of exploration, appraisal or development of a resource field. It is also done for well control, that is, to prevent formation fluid from getting into the well bore due to surrounding pressure. &amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.gdc.co.ke\/blog\/glossary\/drilling\/\"  target=\"_blank\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'  tabindex='0' role='link'>drilling<\/a> and <a class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Discharge testing&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;Discharge testing of a new geothermal well is the process through which well parameters such as steam flow, brine flow, enthalpy, wellhead pressure and power output are determined. After discharge testing, the well parameters are known and the well can be used for either direct use or power production.
