Geothermal Development Company (GDC) has started drilling<\/a> the second exploration well at Korosi, a prospect within the Baringo-Silali Geothermal Project. The drilling<\/a> team spudded Korosi Well Two (KW-02) on Tuesday, 12th January 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GDC has two (2) rigs currently drilling<\/a> at the Prospect, a factor that will expedite the drilling<\/a> of exploration wells in the region. With the two rigs now on site, drilling<\/a> the initial three exploration wells in the Korosi region is expected to take a shorter time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Korosi is one of three (3) prospects in the North Rift Region to be developed in phases, with the first phase of the project targeting 100MW from each of the prospect sites namely: Paka, Silali, and Korosi. In Paka, the first three exploration wells have been drilled and are currently being monitored by GDC’s Geothermal Resource<\/a> Management (GRM) experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baringo-Silali Geothermal Project is key to GDC, as it has a huge geothermal potential estimated at 3,000MW.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
