GDC will be one of the key players to champion the direct use<\/a> of geothermal resources<\/a> in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a plenary session of the just concluded 7th Africa Rift Geothermal Facility Conference (ARGeo<\/em> C-7) held in Kigali, Rwanda,General Manager, Strategy, Research and Innovation Dr. George Muia and Direct Use<\/a> Manager, Ms. Martha Mburu, informed the delegates how GDC has progressed in the area of direct use<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Muia chaired the plenary which was also addressed by Ms. Mburu, Ms. Luca Angelino from International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Arni Ragnarsson, Iceland GeoSurvey and Caitlin Smith – US Power Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was resolved that in the next two years, ARGeo countries will focus on tapping the immense opportunities that direct utilization of geothermal avails for the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference noted that the enhanced direct use<\/a> of geothermal resources<\/a> is great for fighting hunger and poverty and ultimately enhance the livelihoods of communities living in geothermal-rich localities. Direct use<\/a> of geothermal resources<\/a> has the potential to contribute to the socio-economic development of the African continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
