Geothermal Development Company (GDC) distributed food items to the host communities in the Baringo-Silali Geothermal Project from November 8-10, 2022. The items included maize and beans to help the communities deal with the food shortage affecting the region. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We would like to thank our main financier KfW bank for this great initiative which comes at a time when the country is experiencing drought. I thank our host communities for the continuous support they have been giving us, as we continue our operations in this region,” said Mr. John Lagat, Regional Manager -North Rift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kapkerwa Area Chief Mr. Moses Chebii thanked the GDC family and management for the kind gesture and urged the community to support GDC as the company carries out drilling<\/a> operations in Baringo. “We are grateful and hope you will continue with this goodwill and promise to support you in any way we can. This donation has come at a very critical time when the whole country is experiencing a food shortage,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The food drive was done in Kadingding, Chepungus, Keriew, Chemukutan, Meisori, Kapkerwa, Chesiran, Lomuge, Tuwo, Korosi site, Naudo, Riongo, PS3 and Silali caldera<\/a>. The exercise was led by Mr. John Lagat – Regional Manager North Rift, Ms. Wanjiru Kangara – Manager, Corporate Communications and Marketing, who also doubles up as Ag. Manager Community Relations, and Mr. Daniel Kilelu – Chief Officer, Community Relations among other GDC staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
