Role in GDC
I am in charge of administrative services in GDC’s Central Rift Region. I oversee the front office, hospitality team, cleaning team, courier and mail services. I also manage the utility bills and I, issue daily publications and airtime.
A memorable moment during when a woman inspired me
The Girls Opportunity Alliance a program founded by Michelle Obama, aims to empower adolescent girls around the world through education, allowing them to achieve their full potential and transform their families, communities, and countries. The alliance engages people around the world to take action to help adolescent girls and the grassroots leaders working to educate them. As a mother of a girl, I support my child’s interests and I encourage her to grow and achieve her goals.
My observations on progress made in empowerment of woman
Empowerment builds a woman’s/girl self-esteem. Women now have a voice and more opportunities as compared to the past. When women are living safe, fulfilled, and productive lives, they can reach their full potential. Empowering girls is key to economic growth, political stability, and social transformation, globally.
What International Women’s Day mean to me?
It is a day where we express our pride and joy and also appreciate fellow women for who they are. The day also celebrates female leaders and the opportunities that women have gained in the recent past. It also highlights the importance of a gender discrimination-free society and promotes gender equity in society.
My message as we celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day
A woman does not need a handout but a hand up. To the woman who knows where she’s going and will keep on until she gets there, to the woman who is loyal to family and friends, to the woman who shows her compassion with a word of support and her understanding with a smile, that woman who brings joy to others, just by being herself, know that you are special and always strive to be the best version of yourself.
