GDC participates in a food drive in North Rift Region

Geothermal Development Company (GDC) distributed food items to the host communities in the Baringo-Silali Geothermal Project from November 8-10, 2022. The items included maize and beans to help the communities deal with the food shortage affecting the region.

“We would like to thank our main financier KfW bank for this great initiative which comes at a time when the country is experiencing drought. I thank our host communities for the continuous support they have been giving us, as we continue our operations in this region,” said Mr. John Lagat, Regional Manager -North Rift.

The Kapkerwa Area Chief Mr. Moses Chebii thanked the GDC family and management for the kind gesture and urged the community to support GDC as the company carries out drilling operations in Baringo. “We are grateful and hope you will continue with this goodwill and promise to support you in any way we can. This donation has come at a very critical time when the whole country is experiencing a food shortage,” he said.

The food drive was done in Kadingding, Chepungus, Keriew, Chemukutan, Meisori, Kapkerwa, Chesiran, Lomuge, Tuwo, Korosi site, Naudo, Riongo, PS3 and Silali caldera. The exercise was led by Mr. John Lagat – Regional Manager North Rift, Ms. Wanjiru Kangara – Manager, Corporate Communications and Marketing, who also doubles up as Ag. Manager Community Relations, and Mr. Daniel Kilelu – Chief Officer, Community Relations among other GDC staff.
