GDC to partner with Nakuru County Government in key development projects

Friday, September 22, 2017-GDC will continue undertaking development and capacity building roles within Nakuru County, MD and CEO Eng. Johnson P. Ole Nchoe has said. He spoke yesterday when he paid a courtesy call to Nakuru County Governor H.E Hon. Lee Kinyanjui. Eng. Ole Nchoe assured him of the company’s commitment to the development agenda of the County.

“We want to confirm that as a company we will be working closely with your government towards the development of this County”, said the MD & CEO.

Among the key issues discussed is the setting up of an industrial park at the Menengai Geothermal Project, capacity building in key educational fields among the locals and offering expertise on planned projects by the county government.

“We have started a Geothermal Centre of Excellence in Naivasha that will play a crucial role in training our youth on renewable energy. Soon we shall be rolling out a programme that targets to train at least 100 youth annually”, added Eng. Ole Nchoe.

In addition to knowledge sharing, the company will continue empowering communities within the County. GDC has already rolled out some community projects in our areas of operation such as provision of clean water, upgrading medical facilities and afforestation.

On his part, H. E. Governor Lee Kinyanjui said that GDC is one of the biggest development partners in Nakuru County.

“We know GDC has done a lot and has even bigger plans ahead that will lead to development of this great county”, remarked Governor Kinyanjui.

The Governor assured GDC of his support through policy and legislation to enable the company achieve its mandate.

Eng. Ole Nchoe was accompanied by Regional Manager Central Rift Mr. Paul Ngugi and General Manager Corporate Services Ms. Joanne Wamuyu.
