Tuesday, August 29, 2017 - GDC Management and the KETAWU Geothermal Branch have started negotiations for a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) that will define future engagement between both parties. “This is a historic day! You will recall that when I joined the Company last year, I gave an undertaking under my 7-Point Strategy that staff matters will be at the heart of my leadership. I have lived true to this promise,” noted the GDC Managing Director & CEO Eng. Johnson P. Ole Nchoe. The MD & CEO spoke in a statement read on his behalf by the Regional Manager South Rift, Mrs. Irene Onyambu during the launch of the negotiation process held in Naivasha on 28th August 2017. The MD & CEO noted that no effort would be spared in ensuring that the CBA is completed and implemented.

“Management is committed to the process of negotiating this first CBA with the KETAWU Geothermal Branch. We will accommodate Union views and negotiate as equal partners so as to reach a win-win outcome,” said Mr. Simon Kiplang’at, the Management Leader in the Negotiation Committee and the General Manager, HR & Administration

The KETAWU Geothermal Branch Chairman reiterated that the launch of the CBA negotiations was a great milestone since the Union had waited for its commencement for a long time. “This first CBA will be historic and as Union representatives, we are ready to give and take and to accommodate Management views. We in turn request Management to reciprocate,” noted Mr. Masinde.

Speaking at the launch Mr. Michael Opiyo, the KETAWU Geothermal Branch Secretary said, “we are extremely elated at this significant occasion and we look forward to a progressive collective bargaining agreement (CBA). As leaders of the KETAWU Geothermal branch we promise to negotiate objectively putting into consideration the sustainability of the CBA and ability of the Company to pay.”
