GDC participated in this year’s Kisumu Agricultural Society of Kenya exhibition and emerged out with an award. GDC won the “The Charles Owelle Perpetual Challenge Cup for the Chairman’s Commendation” for having put together a great display. GDC also scooped 2nd position for the best developed stand 2011. Among the notable dignitaries who visited the GDC stand, were Immigration Minister, Hon. Otieno Kajwang, Kisumu Mayor Sam Okello, and GDC Chairman Paul Gondi. |

GDC shines at Mombasa fair |

GDC exhibition emerged the Best Energy Trade Stand at the just concluded Mombasa International ASK Show.
It was our moment of glory when we received a trophy and a certificate following the excellent display.
“Congratulation for the good work,” those were the simple words of President Kibaki as he awarded a trophy and a certificate to the GDC Chairman Paul Gondi. Our close competitors were Kenya Power and Kenya Pipeline Company. Kenya Power was the first runners-up followed by Kenya Pipeline Company.
“You have done us proud and keep the tempo and GDC flag flying high,” said Mr. Gondi soon after receiving the certificate. Jubilated Ms. Musembi, said it was a great honour and a moment of joy.
“This is a result of the effort we have put in the last two years and we promise Kenyans cheaper power in the near future,” she said enthusiastically. |

Steam Cup dribbles off in style |

GDC played host to the first Steam Cup tournament which was held at the Nakuru ASK grounds over the weekend. It was pomp and colour as GDC team, stole the show and emerged the second-runners up in an event which converged giant organizations. National Bank emerged the best followed by KenGen Nairobi team. The tourney was sponsored by GDC, which had a total of four teams, from Nairobi, Nakuru, Naivasha and two from Menengai.
The guest of honour was Chief Manager, Dr. Peter Omenda, who was accompanied Mr. Ben Kubo (Manager, Central Rift Region), Human Resources Manager, Ms. Rose Tindi, Manager, PR & Communication, Ruth Musembi, Performance Manager & PA to the CEO, Godwin Mwawongo, Deputy Manager Environment and Community Liasion Grace Mwai and her Finance counterpart Godfrey Shitsama. |

Taking geothermal to the lake |

Kisumu residents recently got a chance to understand geothermal and the impact it will have on their lives. In particular they appreciated how geothermal will light the country and bring forth great economic tidings through direct utilization of the resource.
GDC was among the many exhibitors at the annual Kisumu ASK Show. GDC also received “The Charles Owelle Perpetual Challenge Cup for the Chairman’s Commendation” for having assembled an excellent display in record time. GDC also scooped position 2 for the Best Developed Stand.
Show-goers were impressed to learn about the massive geothermal potential that Kenya has.
