GDC represented High Level Global Geothermal Alliance Conference in Italy
Tuesday, September 12, 2017-GDC Managing Director & CEO Eng. Johnson P. Ole Nchoe and GM Strategy Research and Innovation, Dr. George Muia are part of the Kenyan delegation to the High Level Global Geothermal Alliance Conference in Florence Italy.
The Conference serves as a global platform for improved dialogue, co-operation and co-ordinated action between the geothermal industry policy makers and other stakeholders in addressing the challenges facing both geothermal power generation and direct use of geothermal heat.
Eng. Ole Nchoe and the team from Kenya articulated the major challenges that face the industry in the country and also highlighted some of the initiatives the Government of Kenya has taken to address such challenges. Key among these is the institutionalization of GDC, a state-owned company that tasked to reduce the upfront risks to private companies looking to invest in the geothermal space in Kenya. Other initiatives are the introduction of robust legislation aimed at rationalizing the role of the private and public sector in geothermal development as well as the direct government participation through GDC in facilitating the development of the requisite infrastructure for geothermal development in Kenya.
Eng. Ole Nchoe also highlighted the different laudable initiatives that GDC has put in place to enhance the human resource capacity both in Kenya and the larger East African region through the Geothermal Training Institute (GTI).

Issac Kiva, Dr. George Muia, GM Strategy Research and Innovation(GDC), Ms. Harriet Nduma Charge D’Affairs in Italy, Eng. Peter Kinuthia (Kenya Power) and Mr. David Muthike (Kengen).
